Home Alone Pet Guide is designed to be affiliate-funded. Some links on the site may earn us a commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you.
Affiliate income helps pay for product research, updates and site maintenance. It does not change the basic rule of the site: a guide should be useful before it is commercial, and a product should not be presented as the answer when a sitter, a vet, a behaviour professional or a safer routine is the better next step.
How affiliate links work
If you click an affiliate link and buy something, HAPG may receive a commission from the retailer or affiliate network. The price you pay should not increase because of that link. Affiliate programmes, retailers and product availability can change, so commercial pages need regular checks.
Where disclosure appears
Disclosure should appear close to commercial content, especially on buyer guides and product comparisons. If a page includes buying recommendations, readers should see the commercial relationship before or near the section where product links appear.
How products are handled
- Product pages should explain who a product suits, who should skip it, and what trade-offs matter.
- Prices, stock, warranty, shipping and return details need to be checked and refreshed.
- Hands-on testing is stated only when it has actually happened.
- Non-commissioned alternatives may be included when they are more useful, better value or safer for the situation.
Link handling
Some commercial links may use tracking or redirect links. If a retailer relationship or affiliate link is still being set up, the page should make that clear rather than treating a placeholder as a final buying recommendation.
Corrections
If you spot a broken link, changed price, unavailable product, outdated retailer detail or unclear disclosure, please use the contact page. Product pages are only useful if they stay current.
